I heart Annie (the movie)

A few days ago, the movie Annie came on tv. Unfortunately, I only caught the end of the movie, which Mo found to be a good thing.

When I was little, Annie was my all-time favourite movie. We had a beta vcr at the time and my daddy illegally recorded the movie for me. I watched it over and over and over again. My love of Annie was so strong that my parents bought me the Annie storybook, Annie soundtrack, and Annie pajamas. They even bought me the Annie diary which I faithfully wrote in everyday until it was filled. (At that point, the Annie memorabilia was no longer being sold in stores, so I had to be content with a regular diary).

Looking back, it appears that my parents must have loved me a lot. I'm not sure why, but little kids have the amazing ability to listen the same things over and over again and still love it. So I wonder if my parents are able to listen to "It's a Hard Knock Life" ever again without pulling their hair out screaming. I do remember my dad asking me nicely whether my record had any other tracks on it.

The nostalgia ended all too quickly as the closing credits to Annie flashed on the screen of our Sony tv. I treated Mo to a rousing sing-along of "The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow" and I declared that the next time Annie came on tv, it would be tivo-ed so I could listen to all the songs again. Hmm, I guess Mo must love me a lot too...
